What are the benefits of collagen?

Collagen is a family of proteins that are found throughout the body and are an essential building block for the growth and repair of the body. Including collagen within the Gourmet dried food formula provides many benefits such as:

  • Skin & Coat Health: Helps to maintain skin elasticity & hydration, may support dogs with dry & itchy skin.
  • Bone Health: Type I collagen makes up 90% of the protein content within bones, provides the framework for bone materialization.
  • Joint Health: Maintains mobility & flexibility in older dogs, supports strong joint development in younger dogs, collagen types I & II are crucial components in ligaments, tendons & cartilage.

Why does the Gourmet dried kibble range have less meat than the 80:20 range?

The Gourmet dried kibble has a 60/40 split of meat and fish to vegetables, botanicals and functional ingredients. This range is offered as an alternative to our 80/20 Cuisine Range for dogs who potentially can’t tolerate the 80/20 recipes, this range helps to ensure that we have options of dried kibbles for a variety of dogs. Our Gourmet recipes have different functions to our Cuisine Range recipes, but still have a high freshly prepared meat content of 37-43%.
