Probiotics are live beneficial microorganisms that can help support a healthy gut. Prebiotics are substances, often certain types of dietary fibre, that provide nourishment for beneficial bacteria already living in the gut. Put simply: probiotics are the beneficial bacteria, while prebiotics are the nourishment that helps support them.
Our feeding amounts may look lower than you’re used to, but this is perfectly normal. Our recipes contain no gluten, grains or bulk fillers, making them highly nutrient-dense. This means your dog needs less food to meet their daily nutritional requirements as there is more nutrition in every bite! We also keep carbohydrate levels as low as possible, again resulting in smaller feeding portions, while supporting high digestibility and lower stool volume.
Whilst our feeding guides provide a great starting point, we appreciate that every dog is different and their nutritional needs can vary. If you feel your pet’s feeding amount needs adjusting to suit their individual needs, you are more than welcome to do so! Whether increasing or decreasing the amount, we recommend making changes gradually. As a guide, we suggest adjusting the amount by around 10% every two weeks. Throughout the adjustment, monitor your pet’s behaviour, body condition and stool quality. Firm, well-formed stools are a great indication that the feeding amount is appropriate and your pet is digesting and utilising the food well. If you’re unsure whether the feeding amount our guide suggests is right for your pet, or would like support with making an adjustment, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team at info@edenpetfoods.com.
Grain-free does not automatically mean a diet is associated with DCM. Concerns and research surrounding this condition have primarily centred around certain grain-free diets that use high levels of peas, lentils, other legumes or potatoes as major ingredients in place of grains. Our recipes are high in meat and inspired by the ancestral diet of dogs, with no reliance on peas or legumes as substitutes for grains. Instead, we focus on animal-based ingredients alongside carefully selected, purposeful botanicals to create a complete and balanced diet that provides the nutrients your dog needs.
You can find a general feeding guide located on the back of our products. Alternatively, our Online Feeding Calculator can give you a more specific figure, tailored to your pet.
